Comments around his neat look notwithstanding, Neil Nitin Mukesh is ecstatic that LAFANGEY PARINDEY - his first solo commercial film after AA DEKHEN ZARA - has taken a decent opening at the box office. Also, with this Pradeep Sarkar film being a performance oriented outing for it's lead actors, LAFANGEY PARINDEY has managed to find some good comments coming Neil's way.
'It wasn't easy to play 'One Shot Nandu'. There were layers to this character and everything had to be understated. The characterisation and mood of the film was such that things had to be conveyed in a subtle manner rather than on-your-face. This only makes the job of an actor further difficult,' says Neil who has continued the good work from his NEW YORK and JAIL days.
In fact except for AA DEKHEN ZARA which hadn't see many good reviews coming its way, each of the films starring Neil has seen good response for the story as well as his performance. While his JOHNNY GADDAAR had managed a good first impression for the young actor, the success of LAFANGEY PARINDEY has further buoyed him. However, there are some who have especially pointed out his urban look coming in way of his characterisation of a tapori.
Though Neil refuses to comment on the 'issue', his close friend does come out in his defence. 'What one should look at is whether the character worked or not,' she says, 'Since when did looks start becoming so important? On one side we accuse stars of not thinking beyond their looks. On the other hand when someone, who could have been content doing metrosexual roles film after film, tries to experiment, we start debating even that. It's just not fair.'
Well, Neil can't be expected to be worrying much about this. After all with audience giving a green signal to the film, he would be content with the eventual outcome regardless of any comments being made about his own personal self.
