Once known as an out and out action hero, Suniel Shetty is now fast turning into an actor who has his eyes set on exploring issue based subjects. After working in films around global terrorism (MISSION ISTANBUL, MUKHBIIR), land grabbing (TUM MILO TOH SAHI) and Naxals (RED ALERT - THE WAR WITHIN), Shetty is now gearing to begin work on drug abuse. Titled RAVE, the film is being whole heartedly supported by Shetty and would see debutant director Nawab - a close friend and associate - calling the shots.
"RAVE is about four young boys and a police officer. When Nawab came to me with the subject, I found it to be very topical and relevant", says Suniel who is totally charged up about the film, "The film would be made in an utmost raw manner to get the right gritty and an edgy feel."
Though he won't be producing the film himself, he would be backing it to the fullest with Nawab himself expected to hold the baton of a producer. Says Suniel, "Even if I don't get a single rupee for this film as an actor, I am okay with that. This is one film that will make a huge difference to our society."
No wonder, he wants the world to be aware about drug abuse, "With the market opening up for newer subjects and industry too recognizing my potential after being around for two decades, I guess it is my responsibility to do something that caters to a burning issue. RAVE would have an issue at the core of it but would be told in a thrilling format that would have a strong commercial appeal."
RAVE will go on floors early 2011.
