14 Crore of Dabangg for UP

That Salman Khan's DABANGG is an all time blockbuster and has brought immense joy and moolah to all concerned, and especially to its distributors is old news. It is also a fact that it has done wonderful business in the hinterland, especially Uttar Pradesh and Bihar where the movie is based.

This can be ascertained from the box-office reports and trade analysis of DABANGG but there is another proof which proves beyond doubt the record breaking success of the film in Uttar Pradesh.

The Abhinav Kashyap directed film has brought in a record breaking 14 crores as entertainment tax to the Uttar Pradesh government. In September 2010, the state managed to generate almost 23 crores as revenue from entertainment tax and from that 14 crores was the tax generated from the screenings of DABANGG in Uttar Pradesh. Naturally the state government, which is in the midst of a financial crunch, and with flood ravaging many parts of the state, this couldn't come at a better time.

Here's hoping that just like Robinhood Pandey, the UP government will put the revenue generated from DABANGG to good use!
