Has Karan Johar directed a few portions of his buddy Shah Rukh Khan's RA.ONE? These have been the whispers going in the industry circles ever since Karan visited the London location of Shah Rukh's biggest film till date and spent some quality time there. Many believed that when Shah Rukh pulled in Karan Johar on a short notice to help him during the shooting schedule of RA.ONE, the trust was broken with the designated director Anubhav Sinha.
"It was shocking to say the least", says an industry insider who has been trying to decipher the turn of events, "Even though the shooting of RA.ONE was going smoothly and at brisk pace, no one would have expected Shah Rukh to take such a step. One can't imagine what Anubhav would have thought about this decision of Shah Rukh."
He adds as an afterthought, "He can't be expected to react at all. After all he is directing the biggest superstar of the country today and he himself feels privileged to be in charge of the most awaited film of 2011. I am sure Shah Rukh would have had a closed door conversation with Anubhav around the decision."
On his part though, Karan Johar is totally amused with the rumours making the rounds. "If you feel that shooting a couple of montage shots in a film can equate to directing a portion of the film - howsoever brief it is - then be it", Karan shrugs here, "Sometimes things happen just because of emotional reasons and my visit to London was an instance of just that. And come on, I always thought that this rumour had died its natural death."
Well, now one waits to see the final cut of RA.ONE and figure out if the montage shots do bring to fore the emotional quotient which Shah Rukh and Co. are looking for. Also starring Kareena Kapoor and Arjun Rampal, RA.ONE is expected to release in Summer 2011.
